Why We Exist

Our Mission & Vision

Two convictions that shape everything we do as a church family.

Our Mission

To make disciples of Jesus Christ by preaching the gospel with clarity, teaching the whole counsel of scripture, and equipping every believer in Ovom and beyond to worship faithfully, grow in fellowship, and serve their community with love.

Our Vision

A church where every family in Yenagoa knows the love of Christ, generations worship together under one roof, and disciples are sent out — including through our five mission churches — to plant seeds of hope across Bayelsa State and beyond.

Our Story

Rooted in scripture. Built for Ovom.

First Baptist Church Ovom began as a small gathering of believers committed to prayer and the teaching of God's Word. Over the decades, that gathering has grown into a diverse congregation of families, students, and elders — united by one confession of faith and one calling to love our neighbours well.

We hold to the authority of scripture, the centrality of the gospel, and the priesthood of every believer — affiliated with the Bayelsa Baptist Conference and the Nigerian Baptist Convention. Whether you grew up in church or are walking through our doors for the first time, you'll find a seat saved for you.

Testimonies from Our Family

Real stories of grace, healing and faithfulness from members of FBC Ovom. Scroll to read more.

"

I return all glory to God for His mercies. In 2024 about July, we received a testimony from the highest court of the land which never manifested — despite the challenge, God still wrought good works in my workplace, and I see green light at the end of the tunnel. May the name of the Lord be exalted forever.

God can open and close any door. Church was never meant to be a building we visit — it's a family we belong to. Come find your place among us.

We'd Love to Pray With You

Prayer of Salvation & Prayer Requests

Whether you're taking your first step toward Christ or carrying a need on your heart, our prayer team is with you.

First Step

Prayer of Salvation

If you have never trusted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you can begin that relationship today by praying this from your heart:

"Lord Jesus, I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and put my trust in You alone. Come into my life, forgive me, and make me new. Thank You for Your grace. Amen."
Welcome to the family! A pastor will reach out to walk with you. You may also join our New Members Orientation, Sundays at 9:00 AM.
